It s a new year and it s time to start it off in a positive way. The top speedrunners in the world have returned for Awesome Games Done Quick 2021. Unfortunately, the COVID-19 pandemic means everyone is being kept socially distant and operating from an online space. But, even online, the mission remains the same. It s seven days of speedrunning action with runners tackling the best games of the past and present for a worldwide audience on Twitch.
Awesome Games Done Quick 2021 Online is raising money for the Prevent Cancer Foundation. This year s runners have already raised over $500,000 in just three days. Shacknews will be watching all week and we ll make sure to check in with the daily schedule each day this week, while also spotlighting noteworty runs worth following.

Awesome Games Done Quick, back for its 12th year, starts today. After a terrible 2020, these fun and impressive speedruns might just be the best way to kick off 2021. Like last year, all donations will go to the Prevent Cancer Foundation. However, because of covid, the event is being held virtually, to help keep everyone safe. But a pandemic can’t stop speedrunners, who will spend the next seven days streaming from their homes while playing through a ton of games, breaking them in ways their developers never imagined.

Awesome Games Done Quick returns today for an online version in 2021. If you are somehow not familiar, the popular charity marathon regularly features a packed schedule full of people speedrunning various video games streamed live online, and has historically included an in-person event that folks can attend. With the coronavirus pandemic still ongoing, however, things are set to be a little different this year.
The full event starts today and should be ongoing as you read this. First up is a
Mirror s Edge run, and the day should cap off with
Pikmin 2. The full schedule for the event is available online, and as usual, there should be archives of the runs that go up after the fact.
