First ‘non-travellers’ COVID cases
As of December 28, one person, of 24 active cases of COVID-19, was being treated at the Argyle Isolation Centre.
The Health Services Subcommittee advised, into the early hours of Tuesday evening, that two (new) positive cases of COVID-19, with no history of travel, were confirmed over the last 24 hours.
Health Officials assured that extensive contact tracing and testing have been initiated. All possible contacts have been quarantined
This brings the number of recorded cases to 115, though this is recorded here without confirmation by the appropriate health officials.
No further details were released by the Health Officials but, in what appeared to be efforts to address speculation consequent upon the release as referenced, electricity provider VINLEC and telecommunications service provider FLOW issued separate statements addressing the issue.
Residents of SVG should wear masks once they leave their homes – CMO Social Share
Until proven otherwise, residents of St Vincent and the Grenadines must assume that they are now at increased risk of Covid-19 infection and should wear masks once they leave their homes.
Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Dr Simone Keizer-Beache told SEARCHLIGHT on Wednesday that with two new positive cases with no history of travel having been confirmed on Tuesday, the need for residents to adhere to established Covid-19 protocols is even more critical.
These two individuals came to the attention of health authorities after one of them experienced certain symptoms and contacted the Covid-19 task force, and based on contact tracing and testing, the other individual was identified.
