As on March 31, 2020, Indian Railways had about 4.81 lakh hectares of land under its possession.
Indian Railways has identified 87 land parcels, 84 railway colonies, 4 hill railways and 3 stadiums for asset monetisation so far.
Replying to a question in Lok Sabha, Minister of Railways Piyush Goyal said the ministry has planned to monetise assets including Dedicated Freight Corridors after commissioning, railway land parcels, railway colonies, hill railways and stadiums.

BCPL Railway Infra secures path-breaking order in the railway electrification segment

BCPL Railway Infrastructure Limited has received a LOA from Railway Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL).
This LOA has been received for deployment of 25KV OHE Gang to complete the residual overhead (OHE) adjustment works and provision of bonding/earthing work and safety related works in section Sreerampur Assam - Fakiragram of NF Railway. It is expected to be executed over a period of 45 days. The recent order adds to the strong orderbook position for the Company of around Rs. 1.65 billion.
Commenting on the same, Mr. Aparesh Nandi, Chairman said, We at BCPL Railway Infrastructure Limited are pleased to inform our stakeholders on our recent order intake from RVNL. We have already started seeing a traction in the order inflow and we are quite optimistic about the pipeline of orders in the coming months. We expect to end the year on robust orderbook.

Indian Railways transported a total of 1102.17 million tonnes freight till Feb-end this financial year.
Indian Railways freight loading seems to have made a smart comeback after it suffered from the COVID-19 pandemic. According to the national transporter, the cumulative freight loading up to February 2021 for the ongoing financial year has exceeded the figures up to February 2020. Piyush Goyal-led Indian Railways transported a total of 1102.17 million tonnes freight till Feb-end this financial year as against 1102.1 million tonnes till February 2020.
