New Delhi [India], January 6 (ANI): The inauguration of 306 km-long Rewari-Madar section of the Western Dedicated Freight Corridor (WDFC) by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday will lead to an increase in the speed of freight trains, a senior DFCCIL official has said.
The Prime Minister will also flag off world s first Double Stack Long Haul 1.5 km long container train hauled by electric traction.
Ved Prakash, GM (Operations and Safety) of Dedicated Freight Corridor Corporation of India (DFCCIL) said the Rewari-Madar section of the Western Dedicated Freight Corridor, which comprises 79 km, is in Mahendragarh and Rewari districts of Haryana and the remaining 227 km in Jaipur, Ajmer, Sikar, Nagaur and Alwar districts of Rajasthan.
NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will flag off the commercial operation of goods trains on Rewari (in Haryana) and Madar (near Ajmer) section of Western Dedicated Freight Corridor (WDFC) on Thursday. Last week, PM inaugurated the first 351-km of Eastern Dedicated Freight Corridor in Uttar Pradesh.
According to officials, the new section comprises 79 km in Mahendragarh and Rewari districts of Haryana and approximately 227 km in Rajasthan. There are nine newly built dedicated freight corridor stations in this section. The corridor is slated to be used for double-stack container operation.
These wagons on a long-haul double-stack container train on the western corridor can carry four times in terms of container units compared to the current traffic on Indian Railways.

On December 29, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the New Bhaupur-New Khurja section of the Eastern Dedicated Freight Corridor (DFC) in Uttar Pradesh a 351-km section, built at a cost of Rs 5,750 crore. The full stretch of the Eastern DFC will run from Ludhiana to Kolkata, covering a total of 1,800 km, and is expected to be operational by next year.

New Delhi, Dec 29 : Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday asserted that development of infrastructure should be kept above politics and if there has to be a competition among political parties on infrastructure, it should be on its quality, speed and scale.
Modi was speaking after inaugurating the 351-km New Bhaupur-New Khurja section of the Eastern Dedicated Freight Corridor (EDFC) and Operation Control Centre (OCC) at Prayagraj in Uttar Pradesh through videoconference. Our past experiences tell us that the infrastructure projects related to the country s development should be kept out of politics. The country s infrastructure is not tied to any party s ideology. It is not for meant for five years, but a mission to benefit the people of the country.
