March 02, 2021 03:01PM Recognized for Closing the Gender Gap in AP Computer Science Principles Mercy High School in Middletown has earned the AP® Computer Science Female Diversity Award from the College Board for achieving high female representation in the Advanced Placement (AP) Computer Science Principles course. Schools honored with the AP Computer Science Female Diversity Award have expanded girls’ access in AP Computer Science courses. Mercy High School was one of 831 schools across the country recognized in the category of AP Computer Science Principles for the 2019-20 school year.

Redmond Proficiency Academy (RPA), a tuition-free public charter school located in Redmond, has earned the College Board AP Computer Science Female Diversity Award for achieving high female representation in Advanced Placement (AP) Computer Science Principles, according to RPA science, technology and mathematics instructor Josh White. Schools honored with the AP Computer Science Female Diversity Award have expanded young women's access to AP computer science courses. This marks the second straight year RPA has been honored with the distinction. "During an unprecedented year, RPA female students have demonstrated perseverance and dedication in their study of AP computer science," White said. "We could not be prouder of our female students for staking their claim as the next generation of Science Technology Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) professionals." Gov Brown Discusses Ongoing State COVID-19 Response

Governor Kate Brown will hold a news conference at 11 a.m. today to discuss Oregon's ongoing response to COVID-19. She will be joined by representatives from the Oregon Health Authority, Oregon Primary Care Association, and Virginia Garcia Memorial Health System.
