What you need know about the free vaccine clinics happening in the Houston area

HOUSTON – School is just around the corner. In preparation for the school year, districts and organizations have started announcing vaccine clinics. Many will be hosting clinics for the standard required immunizations and others will also be including COVID-19 vaccines in their list of vaccines available at the clinic.
Here is what you need to know:
Alief ISD event
Memorial Hermann is partnering with Alief ISD for two free vaccine clinics. The clinics will be held on Friday and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday’s clinic will be Killough Middle School and Saturday’s will be at the Alief Center for Talent Development. According to Memorial Hermann, they are offering both first and second doses of the Pfizer vaccine at these events. Individuals 12 and older are eligible to receive free vaccinations. ANAHUAC, Texas A COVID-19 vaccination hub has been designated in Chambers County as the state tries to expand vaccine rollouts.
Chambers County health officials began working to identify potential mass vaccination sites and workers on Jan. 16, after learning the county was receiving a hub.
The Southeast Texas county has been allocated 1,200 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine, according to a representative from the Chambers County Public Health Department.
Since the county will have a limited number of vaccines available, pre-registration is required.
Several healthcare facilities throughout Chambers County have received allocations of Moderna COVID-19 vaccine, making way for frontline healthcare workers to receive their first dose of vaccine.

CHAMBERS COUNTY, Texas – Multiple healthcare facilities across Chambers County received the first shipment of the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine Wednesday, according to a news release.
The 1,000 doses will be given to health care workers who have been working on the front line throughout the pandemic.
According to the release, registered vaccine providers have been working with the Chambers County Public Health to “ensure all Phase 1 workers are identified.”
“Chambers County Public Health has been working for months on a local COVID-19 vaccine distribution plan, and we will work diligently with our local healthcare providers and facilities to ensure timely and efficient distribution in an equitable manner,” states Health Services Director Mary Beth Bess. “DSHS has established an Expert Vaccine Allocation Panel (EVAP) who predetermines what populations will receive the vaccine
