Kat West’s husband, Jeff West, sentenced to 16 years in wife’s death

Shelby County Judge William Bostick III on Monday ordered 47-year-old Jeff West to serve 16 years in prison for the death of his wife, Kat West.
In November, Jeff West was convicted of reckless manslaughter in the death of 42-year-old Kat West, a Calera mother and online exhibitionist.
Kat West died from a blow to the head from a Lucid Absinthe bottle wielded by her husband, a jury deemed. He has maintained his innocence for more than three years, contending she died as the result of a drunken, accident fall.
Death investigation underway after 22-year-old Montgomery man’s body found

A death investigation is underway in Montgomery after authorities found the body of a 22-year-old man Friday morning, police said.
The body of 22-year-old Montgomery resident Amlicar Simon-Perez was found near Highway 80 East near I-65 around 9:30 a.m. by Montgomery police and fire medics, said Sgt. Saba Coleman. Simon-Perez was pronounced dead at the scene.
The circumstances of Simon-Perez’s death remained under investigation late Friday afternoon, Coleman said. The body was taken to the Alabama Department of Forensic Science for an autopsy.

Montgomery murder suspect captured in Florida

A man sought in deadly 2020 Montgomery shooting was captured in Florida.
The Escambia County Sheriff’s Office Warrants Division and U.S. Marshals arrested 27-year-old Pierre Tremore Woods on Tuesday, sheriff’s officials posted on Facebook. The fugitive was taken into custody at a home in the 2700 block of Massachusetts Avenue without incident.
Montgomery and Prattville police, Montgomery County sheriff’s deputies and fire medics were dispatched at 2:52 p.m. that day to the area of Highway 31 at River Bridge after receiving a report of a body found. The body was taken to the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences for autopsy, which revealed the victim had been shot.
Scottsboro police ID Zaxby’s shooting suspect killed in fire at mobile home
Police say a motive for the shooting at Zaxby’s is unknown at this time.

Scottsboro police have identified the suspect accused of shooting his former manager at the Zaxby’s on John T. Reid Parkway.
The department says Randy William Atchley, 31, of Scottsboro shot the victim multiple times outside the restaurant around 9:30 Monday night. They said he then ran to a mobile home on Veterans Drive and barricaded himself inside.
The victim was taken to the hospital and remains in critical condition.
Scottsboro Zaxby’s worker shoots manager, dies in fire, police say

Scottsboro police say one man is dead after he apparently shot a manager at a Zaxby’s Monday night.
The incident happened at approximately 9:35 p.m. Scottsboro police say the manager of the restaurant at 24729 John T. Reid Pkwy., was shot after going to the back door to talk to a former employee.
The manager, whose name was not released, was hit at least once after the shooter fired several rounds.
The assailant then fled the scene. The victim was taken to a local hospital and is listed in critical condition, police said.
