WALKER COUNTY According to the Alabama State Troopers Office, a single-vehicle crash that occurred at approximately 6:30 p.m. Monday, Feb. 15, has claimed the life of a Jasper man.
William Perry, 39, was killed when the 2020 Honda Accord he was driving left the roadway in a curve and struck a tree. Perry was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The crash occurred four and a half miles north of Jasper on North Walston Bridge Road.
No further information is available as Troopers with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s (ALEA) Highway Patrol Division continue to investigate.

BLOUNT COUNTY A two-vehicle crash in Blount County at approximately 6:20 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 9, has claimed the life of a Hanceville man, according to Senior Trooper Brandon Bailey of the Alabama State Troopers Office.
“Byron Holland Smith, 34, was fatally injured when the 2016 Ford Escape he was driving crossed the centerline and collided with a 2020 Mack tractor-trailer,” Bailey said in a statement released Wednesday. “Smith was pronounced deceased at the scene.”
The driver of the tractor- trailer was injured and was transported by helicopter to a nearby hospital for treatment.
The crash occurred on U.S. 278 near Hipp Road, approximately seven miles east of Blountsville. No further information is available as Troopers with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s (ALEA) Highway Patrol Division continue to investigate.
