Alameda County District Attorney Nancy O Malley announced Tuesday that she will not seek re-election to a fourth term.
Her current term ends at the beginning of 2023. She has been working in the Alameda County District Attorney s Office for 37 years, and as district attorney since 2009.
Her office did not say why she is leaving or what she plans to do afterward. She released a statement, mainly describing her accomplishments in office, at https://www.nancyomalleyforda.org/. I could not be more thankful for the career I have had in the best District Attorney s Office in the state and certainly one of the best in the nation, she said in the statement.

Rep. Eric Swalwell, California Democrat, spoke Saturday about snapping at a staffer for Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene and said that he thinks people are “losing patience” with the Georgia Republican.
Interviewed on CNN, Mr. Swalwell recalled an exchange involving face masks that occurred a day earlier on Capitol Hill and had quickly culminated in him swearing at Greene spokesperson Nick Dyer.

Two men from Livermore face first-degree murder and gun charges, as well as potential enhancements for prior convictions, in the wake of the shooting death of another local man at the Motel 6 in town in what police said appears to have been a gang-related killing last weekend.
