HOUSTON (AP) The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services says it is removing immigrant girls from a facility in Houston. HHS said that about 450 girls are being removed from the Emergency Intake Site for Unaccompanied Children operated by the National Association of Christian Churches where were housed since April 1. The agency says the site was intended as a temporary location and the girls will be paired with a sponsor or connected with the Office of Refugee Resettlement. The director of an immigrant advocacy group says there was an unknown incident at the facility Friday. Houston police and HHS spokespersons did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

President Joe Biden’s national security adviser Jake Sullivan confirmed on this week’s broadcast of “Fox News Sunday” that President Joe Biden will raise the cap on refugees allowed to enter America by former President Donald Trump, which Sullivan said was rooted in “racism.”
Anchor Chris Wallace said, “On Friday morning, the president indicated that he was going to stick with the refugee cap set by President Trump last year. Not the 62,500 refugees the administration promised in February to allow into the U.S., but instead just 15,000 refugees this year. Then, under a storm of criticism, the president backed down within hours Friday afternoon and said he would set a higher cap in May. What happened?”

About 450 unaccompanied migrant girls, ages 13 to 17, were abruptly moved out of a U.S. housing facility in Houston on Saturday less than three weeks after it opened.
Authorities have been mostly tight-lipped about the closure, reports say but an advocate for immigrants claims it was because of some type of incident there Friday night.
Ambulances and law enforcement vehicles were seen Friday night outside the facility, which is located near Bush Intercontinental Airport, the advocate told The Associated Press, citing information he said he received from an employee of the group he leads.
