SUFFOLK COUNTY, NY A Bellport man pleaded guilty in connection with a Middle Island crash in 2019 that left three people dead, Suffolk County District Attorney Tim Sini said Thursday.
Nahriek Belford, 19, pleaded guilty to first-degree assault, a felony; two counts of second-degree manslaughter, a felony; and first-degree unlawful fleeing of a police officer, a felony, Sini said.
At 11:45 p.m. on Feb. 9, 2019, Nahriek Belford, 19, who was driving a 2015 Nissan Rogue that had been reported stolen two days prior, was seen by a Suffolk County Police officer failing to yield at a stop sign at the intersection of Yaphank Avenue and Main Street in Yaphank, Sini said. The officer attempted to initiate a traffic stop, Sini said.

LINDENHURST, NY A Lindenhurst woman who fell in the road was killed after being struck by a car in Lindenhurst Saturday night, according to Suffolk police.
Theresa Buckley, 67, fell into the southbound lane of Wellwood Avenue, near Hartford Street, and was struck by a 2015 Chevrolet sedan at 6:45 p.m., police said. She was then pronounced dead on the scene by a physician assistant from the Office of the Suffolk County Medical Examiner.

COMMACK, NY One man is dead following a shooting in Commack on Christmas morning, with another seriously injured, Suffolk police said.
Stephan Harbison, 33, of Coram, entered 450 Moreland Road a homeless shelter called Community Housing Innovations at 12:45 a.m., confronted an employee, displayed a gun and demanded to see a resident, police said. The employee brought Harbison to the resident s room, which was occupied by the resident, as well as a 17-year-old and a toddler, police said.
