Screenshots of the survey obtained by POLITICO show respondents being asked to give their opinions of various people including other mayoral candidates and Santiago, an emergency room doctor and state representative. Another screenshot shares Santiago’s backstory, from growing up in subsidized housing, to becoming a Fulbright scholar and attending Yale School of Medicine “against the odds.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. â Two Kansas City, Missouri, organizations are among the recipients of pre-apprenticeship grants from the stateâs Office of Workforce Development.
The Full Employment Council and Metropolitan Community College were chosen to receive grants of up to $50,000 through the Missouri Apprentice Ready initiative, according to a news release.
Missouri Apprentice Ready launched in February and is âan initiative that invests U.S. Department of Labor funds toward the development of pre-apprenticeship opportunities, supporting pathways to Registered Apprenticeships,â the release stated.
Gov. John Bel Edwards announced his appointments to several Louisiana boards and commissions.

The Traumatic Head and Spinal Cord Injury Trust Fund Advisory Board provides services in a flexible, individualized manner to Louisiana citizens with traumatic head or traumatic spinal cord injuries. The board administers a program which enables individuals to return to a reasonable level of functioning and independent living in their communities.
Stephanie A. Fletcher of Baton Rouge has been appointed to the Traumatic Head and Spinal Cord Injury Trust Fund Advisory Board. Fletcher is a physical therapist at Sage Day Neuro and will serve as a representative of an organization recognized for its work in advocacy programs for persons with spinal cord injury.

Census data shows Mississippiâs population declining

JACKSON, Miss. (WLBT) - Mississippi is one of just three states thatâs lost population in the last decade, according to the 2020 Census information released this week.
Fewer folks identifying as Mississippians isnât a shock to many.
âA lot of our friends that I grew up with left the state and didnât come back,â said Schuyler Dixon. âWhat brought us back was family, but for a lot of folks whose families leave too, there isnât much of a draw here. There has to be some kind of reason to come back, whether thatâs jobs or technology.â
