One year after introducing tough new measures to ensure Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) contracted by the Palaszczuk Government are delivering courses to a high standard, 12 have had their agreements terminated and 43 have faced sanctions.
Minister for Training and Skills Development Di Farmer said the government’s message to Skills Assure RTOs was clear.
“Make no mistake: if you’re an RTO refusing to meet the high standards we expect of our training providers, we will throw the book at you and I make no apologies for that,” Minister Farmer said.

Emergency workers suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder can access compensation faster and easier in Queensland under laws passed on Wednesday.
Frontline workers including police officers, firefighters, child safety and youth justice officers, State Emergency Service volunteers, prison officers, mine rescue teams, emergency doctors and nurses, and paramedics would no longer have to prove their PTSD was work-related.
The new laws will apply for first responders.
Industrial Relations Minister Grace Grace said first responders faced some of Australiaâs biggest challenges, including dealing with catastrophic bushfires, floods, child abuse, car crashes, horrific domestic violence incidents and COVID-19.

Subscriber only A NORTH Queensland electricity linesman is calling for his occupation to be included in a list of first responders to benefit from planned changes to workers compensation laws. But bureaucrats say the list can be widened when the laws are reviewed after the first year. The state government is proposing changes to workers compensation to introduce a presumptive approach where claims for post traumatic stress disorder are deemed to be work related for first responders unless evidence is provided to the contrary.
