More than a week after OPM issued guidance on reopening union contracts negotiated during the Trump administration, Social Security Administration officials are dragging their feet, union officials say.
Nearly two months after President Biden rescinded a series of Trump administration anti-union directives and instructed federal agencies to bargain with labor groups over a much wider scope of issues, union officials said the leadership of the Social Security Administration still isn’t doing enough to comply with the new administration’s plans for labor-management relations.

(BrianAJackson/Getty Images) Federal employees that were adversely impacted by winter storm Shirley, which caused major blackouts and freezing conditions across parts of Texas earlier this year, will be able to take advantage of excess leave donated by their coworkers, the Office of Personnel Management announced March 15. The emergency leave transfer program enables employees in the executive and judicial branches to donate their unused time off to leave banks, which can then be distributed to those impacted by the storm.

email OPM Announces Special Combined Federal Campaign for Texas Storm Victims
Washington, D.C.-area federal employees exceeded expectations and previous years’ totals, raising more than $37 million for charities in 2020.
The Office of Personnel Management on Thursday announced that it is opening a special 30-day iteration of the Combined Federal Campaign charity giving drive to help victims of the winter storm that left millions without power and water in Texas last month.
In a memo to agency heads, acting OPM Director Kathleen McGettigan announced the special solicitation, which will run until April 9, and said federal workers will be able to donate to more than 6,000 vetted charities working on response efforts to the winter storm that pushed Texas’ power grid to the brink of collapse.
