Why Would Anyone Not Wear A Seatbelt?
It just makes sense to buckle up when hitting the road. Think about it, you are barreling down the road in a 2 ton piece of steel, it just makes sense to strap yourself in and avoid being thrown through the windshield or even thrown out to the vehicle and get rolled over.

It s just automatic when I get in my car to buckle up. I don t even think about it. if you aren t doing the same, be aware that the Minnesota State Patrol is on seat belt patrol, in an effort to get people to buckle up when on the road.

I have three dates that are forever ingrained in my mind - dates where I will always remember in stark clarity where I was, what I was doing, what I was wearing at the exact time I heard the news.
The first date is Dec. 10, 2006. That morning, the boy who grew up next door to us died when his all-terrain vehicle went through Round Lake. He had just turned 21 three months earlier.

Stepped up seatbelt enforcement begins today (Mon) on Minnesota roads and runs through June 6th. Mike Hanson with the state Office of Traffic Safety says preliminary data show 38 unbelted motorists have died this year in Minnesota, compared to 25 this time last year and traffic fatalities caused by speeding are also up significantly:
“If we don’t figure out this speeding thing and this seatbelt thing as we go up to Memorial Day and into the hundred-busiest days on Minnesota roads, there’s gonna be a tremendous number of folks who are going to funerals rather than on vacation.”

The Minnesota Department of Public Safety and Minnesotans know that it is important to buckle up. That is why many Minnesotans do it automatically every time they get into a vehicle.
The lives that are saved by seat belts nationwide would give a professional sports stadium - more than 69,000 people from 2015-2019 according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. Many Minnesotans spoke up on why they wear their seat belt. Watch the video below from the Minnesota DPS.
