MILWAUKEE - With the start of summer right around the corner, Milwaukee organizations are advancing plans that promote safety and aim to reduce violence in the city over the coming months.
Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett joined with the Office of Violence Prevention and other groups involved in promoting safety on Friday, May 28, to discuss concerns and approaches for the summer.

NEWARK, NJ A key toward achieving racial equality in communities could come through means of reform in policing and public safety, Newark Mayor Ras Baraka highlighted during a panel discussion with former President Barack Obama.
Baraka was joined on Wednesday by the former U.S. president and community leaders across the nation to participate in a conversation hosted by My Brother s Keeper Alliance, aimed to share ideas and best practices to “continue to center racial equity, the activism the country has seen since George Floyd was killed, and the need to revamp public safety.
Santa Clarita Residents Invited To Virtual Town Hall Discussion Of LASD
Santa Clarita Valley residents are invited to attend a scheduled virtual town hall meeting next month to discuss the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department (LASD) and topics related to the department.
A virtual town hall meeting regarding the LASD’s performance, held by the L.A. County Civilian Oversight Commission, is slated for Tuesday, June 8, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m and residents are invited to discuss hot button issues like policing during protests, response times and rising crime levels.
“Following speaker remarks, local leaders would like to hear about your experience with deputies & how you feel about public safety in your community,” officials with the L.A. County Civilian Oversight Commission stated. “Bring your observations, thoughts & suggestions. Join us at the upcoming town hall.”
Staffers with the city’s Community Crisis Intervention Program will be poised to respond to potentially violent conflicts in an effort to prevent shootings.
