Monday, community members will join together in an effort to stop violence in Minneapolis.
Community patrols begin Monday throughout Minneapolis.
The patrols follow a violent weekend during which four people died and at least 12 others were hurt as the result of gunfire in the city.
Starting Monday, Minneapolis faith leaders are launching what they are calling 21 Days of Peace. Community members can sign up for daily shifts and patrol areas that are seeing violence. It s a plan city leaders say they fully support. This has got to be a both-end approach right now, Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey said. It s community, it s law enforcement, it s the Office of Violence Prevention and let s just be very clear, when you have bullets flying like they ve been, it s unacceptable, we cannot tolerate it as a city, and together we all need to unite around that cause.
The former director of the Office of Violence Prevention is still working for a safer Milwaukee. //end headline wrapper ?>Get a daily rundown of the top stories on Urban Milwaukee

Reggie Moore was held up at gunpoint, he was just one block away from a place where every child should feel safe: His grandmother’s house in Chicago.
He had nothing to give the two robbers.
“His friend literally had to talk his other friend out of shooting me,” Moore said. “Seeing that desperation in someone’s eyes, willing to kill a 12-year-old. I’ve seen that level of pain early.”

Mayor Lori Lightfoot’s revolving door spun again on Monday with the departure of her chief of staff and the arrival of a new chief operating officer.
Maurice Classen will be replaced as chief of staff by Sybil Madison, currently deputy mayor for education and human services.
The job of recently departed chief operating officer Anne Sheahan will be filled by Paul Goodrich, a consultant whose resume includes stints at BNY Mellon Wealth Management and Bank of America.
Of all the jobs Lori Lightfoot has to fill, just one can make or break her day-to-day performance.
It’s chief of staff, a $195,000-a-year pressure-cooker that chewed up a dozen occupants during Mayor Richard M. Daley’s 22-year reign and five during Mayor Rahm Emanuel’s two terms.
