ALLENDALE, MI – A student group is asking Grand Valley State University to end its campus dining contract with Aramark, a third-party food services provider that the university has partnered with for more than three decades.
The GVSU chapter of Students for Food Sovereignty held a campus protest Tuesday, April 6, where the group of around a dozen students voiced concerns that Aramark does not align with the university’s values and fails to provide all students with equitable food options.
GVSU junior Alex Hicks, co-founder of the student group, called Aramark a “problematic food services company” and argued the university should move to a self-operated dining system.
