(WMBF) - Tidelands Health confirmed its first diagnosed case of COVID-19 on March 16, 2020. Since then, hundreds of people in the Grand Strand area have died from the virus. “We had 771 COVID deaths across the Grand Stand and almost 200 of those [people] were from Tidelands Health,” said Tidelands Health Chief Operating Officer Gayle Resetar. With over 700 luminaries, Tidelands Health honored their memories Tuesday night at four campuses during the ““Lights to Remember, Hope for Tomorrow” ceremony.

According to a press release, the planned 34,000-square-foot facility will be located at the corner of Carolina Forest Boulevard and Revolutionary War Way. It will be home to physician offices and outpatient services. The Horry County Planning and Zoning Commission unanimously approved a rezoning of the five-acre property for the office. Officials also pointed out that this area would be used strictly for medical offices, and would be too small to accommodate a hospital.
