CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCSC) - Solicitor Scarlett Wilson said an investigative report on the death of Jamal Sutherland has prompted the need for a follow-up on âseveral issues.â
The solicitor said on Tuesday that the video in the case is disturbing and she has lived with the sights and sounds of the video for months. She said the exposure of mental health failures is âmaddening.â

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCSC) - Leaders from the stateâs Democratic and Legislative Black caucuses held an emergency meeting at North Charleston City Hall to talk about what legislation they can pass to ensure what happened to Jamal Sutherland doesnât happen to others.
Sutherland died on Jan. 5 at the Al Cannon Detention Center while deputies were forcibly removing him from his cell so he could attend a bond hearing on an assault charge. During the incident, he became unresponsive.
