There were no new cases of COVID-19 reported in Renfrew County and district Monday, although there were seven additional cases reported on Sunday.
The Dec. 20 Renfrew County and District Health Unit case summary showed seven new cases – four in Laurentian Valley, two in Whitewater Region and one in the City of Pembroke. Three of those cases were health-care workers related to an outbreak at the dental office of Dr. James Gallant, located in Downtown Pembroke. The health unit also declared an outbreak at the office on Dec. 20. There was also a new school case among staff members although no other details were provided.

There is one new positive case of COVID-19 – a health-care worker who resides in Whitewater Region.
This is the second health-care worker to test positive for COVID-19 in as many days, according to the Renfrew County and District Health Unit as the Dec. 18 case summary includes an outbreak in long-term care/retirement home. Public Health Ontario notes Renfrew’s Groves Park Lodge under long-term care facilities currently in outbreak. There have now been 27 health-care workers test positive for the virus, including 12 employed outside of Renfrew County and district, in addition to 159 community cases, 22 school cases (nine staff and 13 students) and three residents of long-term care/retirement homes. There are three active outbreaks – in the Whitewater Region Mennonite community, although it is coming to a close; Algonquin College Pembroke Campus and Groves Park Lodge.
