SAND LAKE – Averill Park High School students will continue remote learning for a third week while Algonquin Middle School students will return to in-person, hybrid instruction Monday as the district continues to deal with aspects of the coronavirus pandemic.
The district previously moved all students to remote learning when quarantining requirements for COVID-19 made it impossible to provide bus service for students.
Superintendent James Franchini in a letter to district residents Thursday had said that district “staffing levels are returning to a more sustainable level” leading to changes in instruction.

SAND LAKE – The Averill Park Central School District said it is closing its three elementary schools and moving the middle and high schools to full remote learning for Monday to allow time for contact tracing after five recent positive COVID-19 cases.
“Due to the timing of these cases, we are unable to thoroughly conduct the necessary contact tracing and the DOH (Rensselaer County Department of Health) cannot quarantine individuals until the District is able to effectively contact trace,” the district said Monday.
