Change in Age for Wyoming Kindergarten Registration
With the recent passing of House Bill 0174, there is a change according to 21-4-302 of the age requirement for registering for kindergarten.
Under the new law, students must turn five on or before August 1 of this year, whereas previously, the cutoff date was if the child turned five on or before September 15 of the school year.
Families of students whose birthdays fall between August 1 and September 15 may submit a request for an exemption.

During summers, he attended the University of Oregon and received his Master’s Degree in August 1964. While enrolled in doctoral studies at the University of Wyoming in Laramie, Leon taught read-ing in the Albany County School District until 1969, when he accepted a position in the Dunkirk City School District as Principal of School #3. Scott James Named Human Resources Director of ACSD
Superintendent Dr. Jubal Yennie of Albany County School District #1 (ACSD) has announced Scott James and the new Human Resources Director of ACSD, pending the final board approval at the January 13 board meeting.
The responsibilities of the Director of Human Resources include recruiting and hiring employees throughout the district, offering leadership and advice to executive teams on personnel policies, coordinating with state and federal agencies regarding employee leave and benefit programs, and managing grievances.
James had previously served as the Director of State & Federal Programs for ACSD since July of 2018.

Shortage of substitute teachers leads schools to recruit UW students

On December 3, there was an announcement that UW, Governor Mark Gordon, and Superintendent of Public Instruction Jillian Balowhave ask upperclassmen certified as substitute teachers to work at local schools.
“There is a shortage not just in Laramie and Albany County but across the state of Wyoming and the whole country. Most districts have always had a limited number of substitutes, but the pandemic is compounding the problem,” said Jeff Verosky, the director and principal of the Laramie Montessori Charter School.
