Pakistan-China industrial cooperation is destined to make Pakistan a manufacturing hub in the region while the establishment of industrial zones would create vast investment opportunities for local industrialists and absorb huge manpower.
The shifting of industries from China to Pakistan would result in export promotion, import substitution, transfer of technologies and employment generation, which are the primary targets of our government as well.
Both the countries have been working to build industry in the country as work on Special Economic Zone (SEZ)’s including Rashakai, Allama Iqbal Industrial City Faisalabad and Bostan Balochistan was under process and large number of foreign investors have been showing interest in these SEZ’s for investments and government provide facilities to foreign investors, said Federal Minister for Planning, Development and Reforms, Asad Umer.

ISLAMABAD: The four Special Economic Zones (SEZs), work on which is continuing at full swing, would create as many as 1.47 million jobs besides playing an important role in promoting local industry to lead the country towards sustainable economic growth.
“The four SEZs including Rashakai M-1 Nowshera; Dhabeji Thatta; Allama Iqbal Industrial City Faisalabad and Bostan Balochistan would create around 475,000 direct and 1,000,000 indirect jobs all across the country,” senior official of Board of Investment (BoI) told APP here Monday.
Talking to APP, the official said these SEZ, which are part of China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) would promote overall industrial growth in the country, adding that development of these four zones was top priority of the government.
Second Special Economic Zone of CPEC starts in Faisalabad

The second Special Economic Zone of China Pakistan Economic Corridor has been started in Faisalabad, with planned 53.6 billion rupees investment.
According to a press release issued by Board of Investment in Islamabad on Sunday, the economic zone will attract foreign and local investors with state of art world standard facilities.
In this regard, a meeting of Allama Iqbal Industrial City Faisalabad and the Special Economic Zones Committee was held in Islamabad which accorded approval to fifteen applicants and allotted 320 acres land.
ISLAMABAD, Feb. 18 (Gwadar Pro) - Pakistan’s Parliamentary Committee on CPEC was on Wednesday afternoon told that Gwadar Fencing Project under the CPEC was aimed at making Gwadar city a “weapon free zone.”
The 32nd in-camera meeting of the CPEC Parliamentary Committee was held at the Parliament House under the Chairmanship of Sher Ali Arbab, said an official statement.
Secretary, Ministry of Defence briefed the Committee on Gwadar Fencing Project. He apprised that the project was primarily aimed at making Gwadar city a “weapon free zone” and to create an enabling environment for trade and business. The project started on December 4, 2020.
