5 Central MN Breweries Donating Proceeds to Buffalo Victims
Five Central Minnesota breweries are teaming up to show their support for the community of Buffalo by donating a portion of Saturday s taproom sales.
Today (Tuesday, February 16) marks one week since the tragic shooting at an Allina Health Clinic in Buffalo, MN that killed one and left four more injured. Since then, many around the state have rallied to show their support for the community. Multiple GoFundMe fundraisers have been set up on behalf of the victims and their families. During the annual Kites on Ice Festival this past weekend, donation centers were set up around Buffalo for those who wanted to give, and some downtown businesses donated a portion of sales to the families of the victims. One local brewery Hayes Public House in Buffalo hosted a candle vigil in the taproom. One patient threatened to shoot Terry Hunt if physical therapy did not relieve his pain as effectively as opioids did. Another harassed his staff, then roamed a hospital searching for Hunt after being told he would be weaned off painkillers he had used inappropriately.
Hunt was unharmed, but shaken enough to ask the central Illinois hospital system where he worked to dismiss both patients.

At Hennepin Healthcare s Whittier Clinic in south Minneapolis, a group of staffers convened the day after the shooting to share their concerns about safety from outside threats. It s stressful, said Ursula Reynoso, program supervisor of Aqui Para Ti, an office within the clinic for Latino youths and their families.
