KINGSTON, N.Y. â Three people have been arrested in connection with what authorities say was an attempt to send drugs through the mail to the Ulster County Jail.
Diane J. Maiolo, 35, and Gary L. Hoffman, 30, of Kingston, as well as Jessica M. Henry, 36, of Ulster Park, were each arrested on misdemeanor charges of promoting prison contraband and conspiracy following an investigation by the Ulster County Sheriff s Office. Hoffman is an inmate.Â

According to the Sheriff s Office, on Nov. 4, corrections officials found the painkiller suboxone secreted in mail sent to the jail.Â
Maiolo and Henry were released with appearance tickets for Kingston City Court. Hoffman remained in the Ulster County Jail on unrelated charges.Â
TOWN OF ULSTER, N.Y. â Two Kingston residents are facing charges after they were found with approximately 200 bags of heroin and fentanyl during a traffic stop, the Ulster Regional Gang Enforcement Narcotics Team (URGENT) said.
Jason T. Pease, 29, and Jennifer Krom, 39, were both arrested during a traffic stop on Tuesday, Dec. 1, in the Town of Ulster after an investigation into alleged sales and trafficking of heroin and fentanyl in northern Ulster County, authorities said. The approximately 200 bags of drugs were found on them both and hidden in the vehicle, they added.
Pease and Krom were charged with the felonies of criminal possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell and criminal possession of a controlled substance, according to an URGENT press release. It also said that Krom was also charged with tampering with physical evidence, a felony, and that Pease was additionally charged with criminal impersonation for providing the identity of another pers

Ulster County reported on its online dashboard of COVID data that there were 104 positives among the 1,552 test results received Thursday â a rate of 6.7%. The county s total number of active cases, though, rose by only 54, to 1,713. Accounting for the difference were 49 new recoveries and one death, the dashboard showed.
