Met Police authorise dispersal order in Cutty Sark Gardens

Police have authorised a dispersal order covering the Cutty Sark area in Greenwich ahead of expected social disorder this weekend. Met Police say a Section 35 dispersal order has been authorised from 3pm on Friday, May 21, and will run until Sunday, May 23 at 7am. The powers give Met Police officers the power to disperse groups and exclude people from an area for a period of up to 48 hours. Greenwich MPS say the order is in place covering the Cutty Sark Gardens in central Greenwich by the River Thames. The local police force have not yet disclosed the reason for the order, but it is often linked to a violence incident, or ahead of planned antisocial behaviour.
