Lowcountry school districts set staff vaccination plans

South Carolina teachers became eligible for COVID-19 vaccinations Monday as the state entered Phase 1b of its distribution plan.
Public schools in Jasper and Beaufort counties said they are developing plans to make vaccine appointments available to their employees.
The Jasper County School District said staff will soon have the opportunity to schedule their first vaccinations.
Superintendent Rechel Anderson said the district organized a partnership with Coastal Carolina Hospital thanks to the leadership of hospital CEO Joel Taylor and the district’s nurse coordinator Michele Wright. To finally get vaccinations scheduled after an unprecedented school year due to COVID-19 means a great deal to the staff and the district as a whole, Anderson said. 2 charged with murder in fatal shooting of Bluffton High student

Two teenagers charged in Friday’s fatal shooting of Bluffton High School senior Dwon “D.J.” Fields Jr. have turned themselves in to police, Bluffton Police Chief Stephenie Price said Tuesday.
Tyleic Chaneyfield, 18, of Ridgeland, and Jimmie Green, 19, of Hardeeville, are charged with murder, two counts of attempted murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime.
Price said at a news conference investigators are exploring any and all leads related to the shooting at Bluffton and Hampton parkways that also injured two other Bluffton High students.

BEAUFORT COUNTY, S.C. (WTOC) - Educators in Beaufort County, South Carolina have the opportunity to get vaccinated.
Hundreds of teachers and staff members from all over Beaufort County School District were able to come to Battery Creek High School gym and get their first COVID-19 vaccine. They say it’s been a long time coming.
“Pfizer vaccine, we have 700 doses today, we’re hoping to give out all 700,” said Russell Baxley. Beaufort Memorial CEO.
The event was planned in just 48 hours and allowed anyone that worked in the school district to get vaccinated.
