Luca Guadagnino’s hotly anticipated new horror film,
Bones And All. According to reports, the director – who was interviewed for the A/W18 issue of AnOther Magazine – is turning the project into a
Call Me By Your Name-themed reunion, choosing both Timothée Chalamet and Michael Stuhlbarg (who played the former’s father in the 2017 classic) for leading roles. The film will also star Chloë Sevigny, Mark Rylance and
We Are Who We Are’s Francesca Scorsese.
Bones And All is an adaptation of a young adult novel of the same name. The book, written by Camille De Angelis, traces the story of a young, cannibalistic outsider named Maren, and her romance with disenfranchised drifter Lee. The pair join forces for a “thousand-mile odyssey” through the “back roads, hidden passages and trap doors” of 1980s America. The film started shooting around Cincinnati and Ohio at the end of last month.
The film’s original stars Timothée Chalamet and Armie Hammer were slated to reprise their roles in an adaptation of André Aciman’s follow-up novel,
Find Me, but Guadagnino cast doubts on the reunion in a recent interview with
Speaking on the set of his forthcoming film,
Bones & All, the director said: “The truth of the matter is, my heart is still there, but I’m working on this movie now, and I’m hopefully going to do
Scarface soon, and I have many projects and so will focus on this side of the Atlantic and the movies I want to make.”
