In a briefing with reporters Tuesday from Etobicoke, Premier Doug Ford said beating the rising scourge of pandemic cases rests mainly with getting as many vaccines as possible into the arms of Ontarians.
”We’re opening employer-operated clinics right at the job sites,” Ford said. “They’re also vaccinating residents of the surrounding communities. This is how we are protecting our workers and those who can’t work at home. We’re fighting this every we’ve got and vaccines remain our best defence.”

Another person in Hastings-Prince Edward has died of COVID-19.
Hastings Prince Edward Public Health reported the death, which is the region’s seventh, Saturday in the daily update of the health unit’s COVID-19 dashboard. No further details were provided.

There were, as of Sunday, 156 active infections locally, with 15 reported Saturday. Friday’s count had been 169 active cases.
Seven people were in local hospitals Sunday, with two of them in intensive care and one of those on a ventilator.
