OTTAWA As Ontario reports more than 2,000 cases of novel coronavirus for the second consecutive day, there are 41 new cases of COVID-19 in Ottawa. Ottawa Public Health reported 41 new cases of COVID-19 in Ottawa on Wednesday. There are no new deaths linked to the virus. Speaking on Newstalk 580 CFRA s Ottawa Now with Kristy Cameron on Wednesday, Medical Officer of Health Dr. Vera Etches said the COVID-19 situation in Ottawa is stable. I m feeling positive that people are maintaining that practices that are keeping COVID down, said Dr. Etches. We re not declining, not heading into yellow but certainly people are protecting each other against higher levels.
Oglaza added, “With the additional resources and help from the county we are going to be able to continue that work. As well, we’ll be able to maintain the level of case contact management as other tasks come our way. We know that already there are plans in place for the vaccination, the mass immunization. All of these plans are on the horizon which will ultimately be the most powerful tool in managing the pandemic. ”
“Keeping control of the spread through intensive case contact management is really the key in the local response.”
A public health manager Eric Serwatkin told council staff members are “literally exhausted” and the support from the county will be “a real uptick”.

A person at Queen Elizabeth School has tested positive for COVID-19. Hastings Prince Edward Public Health says the risk to the community is low and the school will remain open, as the virus was not contracted at the school.
The Hastings and Prince Edward District School Board is working with the health unit, to identify close contacts of the person who tested positive.
