Hastings Prince Edward District School Board advising students and staff to take home personal belongings

/ 91X FM CJLX Mar 31, 2021 7:13 PM Hastings Prince Edward District School Board is advising students and staff to take home their belongings before they leave for the Easter long weekend. Sean Monteith, Director of Education with the school board, issued a letter today saying that this is a precautionary measure if the Ministry of Education announces that in-persons will be suspended. He adds that his letter is not meant to “cause speculation” but rather make sure students and staff can be prepared as much as possible. It is expected at this time that students will return to the classrooms on Tuesday.

Now with COVID-19, that only increases the concerns and worry for many parents. North Hastings Children’s Services has come up with a way to help area families prepare for their first days of kindergarten. Every Tuesday at 10 a.m. the NHCS hosts the Virtual Preschool Readiness Program over the ZOOM online meeting format. The goal of the program is to support families through the transition into school. The families will be able to participate in new activities, investigate learning techniques, and prepare for the first important steps towards school. The school readiness program works to prepare students for all aspects of school including helping to develop emotional and social skills.
