IPOH (Feb 15): The Perak state government has received contributions totalling RM32 million from various sources as of Thursday (Feb 11), through the Disaster Trust Fund Account and Perak State Social Assistance, in its efforts to fight the spread of Covid-19.
Perak Menteri Besar Datuk Saarani Mohamad said of the total, the federal government through the Ministry of Finance was the main contributor, with a total allocation of RM15 million.
“The National Disaster Management Agency became the second largest contributor with a total of RM4.7 million.
“At the same time, the state government also received contributions from various agencies, such as federal and state statutory bodies, as well as the private sector, which have cumulatively contributed a total of RM8.9 million into this trust account,” he said.
PETALING JAYA: Malaysians who flout the standard operating procedure could face stiffer fines or even jail time for their actions after the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases Act 1988 is amended.
Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said the Emergency Management Technical Committee had looked into provisions in the law that could be amended to allow stricter and swifter enforcement of Covid-19 SOP.
“Enforcement must be enhanced to ensure adherence to SOP.
“It is crucial to follow the SOP at workplaces, workers’ quarters, business premises and factories to break the chain of Covid-19 infections, ” he said in a special address yesterday.

KUALA LUMPUR: Industries and individuals in Malaysia have been urged to comply strictly with the COVID-19 standard operating procedures (SOPs) as a reciprocal gesture to the government s decision of allowing most businesses to remain operational during lockdown.

LUMPUR: Immediate closure of business premises and stiffer legal action against the operators who fail to follow the standard operating procedure (SOP) are among the measures to be implemented by the government to break the Covid-19 chain, says Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.
He said these were among the amendments to be made to the Prevention and Control of Diseases Act 1988 (Act 342) being studied by the Emergency Management Technical Committee to enable faster and sterner action to be taken.
“Compliance with the SOP at the workplace, workers’ places of accommodation, business premises and factories is important for us to break the Covid-19 chain.
