Queen Elizabeth II paid her final respects to her husband of 73 years, Prince Philip, on Saturday, at a slimmed-down yet special celebration of life for the Duke of Edinburgh.
The 94-year-old reigning monarch s other half died on April 9 at the age of 99.
Philip s celebration of life, which he had a major role in planning prior to his death, was attended by his and the queen s four children Prince Charles, Princess Anne, Prince Andrew and Prince Edward as well as Charles s wife Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall; Anne s husband Timothy Laurence and Edward s wife Sophie, Countess of Wessex.
Philip s funeral, held at St. George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle, was an emotional one for Queen Elizabeth II and her family. The late royal s coffin was carried in a custom Land Rover, which he helped design. Charles, Princess Anne, Prince Andrew, Prince Edward, Harry and William, among others participated in the procession, walking behind the coffin.
Rather than a big event, the late Duke, who died at 99 on April 9, had a small funeral service with only 30 close friends and family members in attendance.
Following the the Duke s death, the Palace released a touching tribute, sharing a sweet quote from the queen from 1997.
The royal family has never appeared “quite so emotional” as during the funeral of the Duke of Edinburgh, an expert has said.
Judi James, author and body language expert, said the royals appeared “surprised at how hard Philip’s death had hit them” during the service on Saturday afternoon.

The monarch, who turns 95 next week, looked “very vulnerable and frail” as she arrived for the service, but remained “the most animated royal”, Ms James said.
“When she was sitting in her seat at the chapel she was wearing a hat that covered her face mostly.
