Prince Philip, Queen Elizabeth II s husband, has died at age 99.
The Duke of Edinburgh died at Windsor Castle, a little over three weeks after he was discharged from a London hospital for treatment for an infection and to have a heart procedure.
The cause of his death has not been disclosed.
In a statement, Buckingham Palace said: It is with deep sorrow that Her Majesty the Queen announces the death of her beloved husband, His Royal Highness Prince Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh. His Royal Highness passes away peacefully this morning at Windsor Castle. The royal family join with people around the world in mourning his loss.
Prince Philip was the longest-serving consort in British history would have celebrated his 100th birthday in June. The duke dedicated decades of his life to royal duties before retiring from his royal duties in May 2017 when he reached the age of 96. He was married to the Queen for more than 70 years and had been self-isolating with the Queen as part of a HMS bubble at Windsor Castle. The sad news has brought in tributes from all over the country including Bucks MPs. Wycombe MP Steve Baker said: It is with great sadness that we learn Prince Philip passed away today.

The flag at Belvoir Castle is flying at half-mast today in tribute to Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, after he passed away this morning (Friday).
A statement from the castle said: The Duke and Duchess of Rutland and the entire Belvoir Estate send their deepest condolences to the Queen and the Royal Family at this time.
We will be flying our flag at half mast today in honour of His Royal Highness Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh.â
