President Ghani Congratulates H.M. King Harald V and PM Erna Solberg on Norway’s National Day
In separate messages to His Majesty King Harald the V and Prime Minister Erna Solberg of Norway, President Ghani has extended his cordial greetings and felicitations to the government and people of Norway on the occasion of Norway’s Constitution Day (National Day).
President Ghani expressed great pleasure in the fact that based on joint efforts and commitment, Afghanistan and Norway friendly relations and cooperation having grown and elevated to higher levels in recent years, while reaffirming Afghanistan’s firm commitment to continue further expansion of bilateral relations, cooperation and partnership in the way forward.

On Friday, His Majesty King Harald of Norway delivered a speech to the Norwegian Nature Conservation Association’s national meeting. This was the first major public event that His Majesty has attended following a period of sick leave and his return to the regency. Due to the ongoing public health emergency, the Nature Conservation Association’s national meeting was conducted digitally. The association was founded in 1914 and is Norway’s oldest nature and environmental protection organization with its more than 100 county and local teams across the country.
In his speech, His Majesty said:
“To take care of nature is to take care of ourselves and those who come after us. You in the Nature Conservation Association know this better than most. Fortunately, many young people today are involved in nature conservation. It gives me hope for the future. It also gives good reason for optimism, on behalf of nature, to know that the Nature Conservati
“Australians send our love and deepest condolences to her Majesty and all the Royal family.
“The Commonwealth family joins together in sorrow and thanksgiving for the loss and life of Prince Philip,” Morrison wrote in a statement posted on Twitter.
“He embodied a generation that we will never see again,” the premier said.
The prince “was no stranger to Australia, having visited our country on more than 20 occasions,” the premier added.
“Through his service to the Commonwealth he presided as patron or president of nearly 50 organisations in Australia,” he said.
Morrison announced that flags in Australia would be lowered “in honour of His Royal Highness.”

His Majesty King Harald of Norway celebrates his 84th birthday on Sunday. To mark the occasion, a 21-gun-salute will be fired at noon from the cannons at Akershus Fortress in Oslo. It is tradition in Norway to have a gun salute from 11 fortresses in Norway for the birthdays of King Harald, Queen Sonja, Crown Prince Haakon and Crown Princess Mette-Marit.
The Norwegian King’s birthday is only marked in public when it is a special anniversary, otherwise it is only a private celebration. As the king’s sick leave has been extended to March and due to the pandemic, there will be no big celebration. As the rules are now in Norway, you can have a party for a maximum of 10 people, including your own household. The royals have also said they will follow all the rules. The Royal Court states that the King will stay at his Oslo cabin, Kongssæteren, until March. We can assume that the family will have a small private celebration today.
