TROWBRIDGE woodturner John Boyne-Aitken - known worldwide as the Bowler Hatted Turner - has been made a Freeman of The Worshipful Company of Turners, one of the oldest livery companies in the City of London. The award is rarely bestowed and is given to show the Company’s appreciation for his outstanding services to the craft of wood turning. John, 63, said: “There are only four ways to become a Freeman of the Worshipful Company of Turners - redemption, patrimony, servitude and presentation - and I have been made one through presentation, which recognises outstanding service to the Company or craft.
