Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Monday said the foundation stone laying of the Surat metro and the second phase of the Ahmedabad metro projects by Prime Minister Narendra Modi marked an important day for the people of both cities.
Shah, who attended the foundation stone-laying ceremonies through video-conferencing, said both projects will further strengthen the urban development infrastructure of Gujarat.
He said when Modi was the chief minister of Gujarat, he had placed the vision of the state s all-round development before people and also ensured that it was achieved during his tenure.

PM to perform ground-breaking ceremony for Ahmedabad, Surat metro projects today
Prime Minister Narendra Modi performed the ground-breaking ceremony for the Ahmedabad Metro Rail Project Phase-II and the Surat Metro Rail Project via video-conferencing at 10:30 am on Monday. The Prime Minister s Office (PMO) on Saturday said the metro projects will provide an environment-friendly mass rapid transit system to the two cities in Gujarat.
Gujarat Governor, Union Home Minister, Gujarat Chief Minister, and Union Housing and Urban Affairs Minister were also present on the occasion.
