The U.S. Coast Guard suspended its search Monday night for a missing 18-year-old man after scouring 787 square nautical miles for nearly 24 hours.
The man was last seen entering the water in the Packery Channel on Padre Island.
Those involved in the search were the U.S. Coast Guard Sector/Air Station Corpus Christi, Coast Guard Station Port Aransas, Coast Guard Cutter Harold Miller, Coast Guard Cutter Pelican, Corpus Christi Beach Rescue and Corpus Christi s fire and police departments.
Fire Chief Robert Rocha said Sunday night around 8 p.m., dispatchers received a call about a drowning near beach marker 203 and Zahn Road.

Approximately three square miles were covered over 13 hours by aircraft and vessel during the search.
Saturday morning, Coast Guard Sector Corpus Christi watchstanders received notification of five individuals who were ejected from their vessel after reportedly striking a piling in the water. Watchstanders issued an urgent marine information broadcast and launched a Coast Guard Station Port O’Connor 29-foot Response Boat-Small boat crew.
Texas Parks and Wildlife Department personnel recovered three individuals with minor injuries and one person unresponsive.

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas â The Coast Guard is searching for the owner of a boat after they found it drifting in Nueces Bay on Saturday.
The unoccupied green Jon boat was found with an ice chest and food floating about 300 feet away from where it was found.
The Coast Guard Sector/Air Station Corpus Christi, Coast Guard Station Port Aransas, Corpus Christi Fire Department, and Good Samaritan boats are searching for the owner of the boat.
