Article content It’s summertime at Silver Threads Seniors Club in Petawawa and along with the lockdown of our facility, we usually maintain a “slowdown” of most of the activities at this time of the year. Until further notice from our government, we have to continue to operate online with our activities. We will continue to offer frozen meals from Griffith Farm and Market and Faye has purchased a new supply of food items for your convenience. Now that the summer weather is here, we may be spending more time outdoors in our backyards and it is important to wear sunscreen, a hat, sunglasses and proper footwear. Beware of the many pests in the garden and wear garden gloves when you’re tempting those weeds to loosen and come out of the earth.

Port Sydney Beach Project gets $60K boost from the province

SHARE ON: Image of Port Sydney Beach via Google Maps The Town of Huntsville announced Thursday that the Municipality got a $60,000 grant for accessibility improvements at Port Sydney Beach. The 2021 Capital Budget included funds for the project, however, accessible features can now be expanded with the Inclusive Communities Grant from the Ontario Ministry for Seniors and Accessibility. The project will include the installation of a 50-metre-long accessible ramp and mobility mats at the beach to allow persons with disabilities and those with mobility issues easier access to the beach and water area.  A hard surface walking path will also be created from the upper parking lot to the beach area complete with a handrail and mobility mats will be installed at the waterfront.
