All snowmobile trails in Muskoka closed along with vast majority in surrounding area

SHARE ON: Photo credit: www.Pixabay.com While the warm weather in Muskoka is good news for many, don’t count snowmobilers as part of that group. According to the Ontario Federation of Snowmobile Clubs’ (OFSC) interactive trail guide, all of the sledding trails in Muskoka and the vast majority in the surrounding area have been closed. “Unfortunately for every snowmobiler, spring never fails to come in March,” President of the Muskoka Sno-Bombers Kevin Alexander says. The warm weather and rain we’ve seen this week have “knocked the snow levels down,” according to Alexander. He adds that bodies of water and swamps are softening and creeks are now flowing, making the conditions on the trails unsafe for riding.

Dryden Power Toboggan Club Gearing Up For Winter

Dryden Power Toboggan Club/Facebook The Dryden Power Toboggan Club is anticipating a busy winter season. Vice President Kevin Glenister says some of the work to clean up the trails is underway. “Several volunteers have been out with power saws and brush saws, and since September we’ve accumulated over 7 hundred hours with the members cutting, brushing and putting up new signs to get the trails ready for the upcoming season.” The club hopes to start grooming trails more effectively, as soon as there’s enough snow and the ice on Wabigoon Lake thickens. Glenister talks about how you can support the club and hit the trails this winter.
