Short of an injunction, it s back to the classroom today for hundreds of Broward teachers who were granted health accommodations to teach remotely. The Broward Teachers Union is suing the school board for mandating teachers return today or take an unpaid leave of absence. Jill Kaplan, who teaches 11th grade English at Cypress Bay High School, feels stuck between a rock and a hard place. Of the 17-hundred teachers granted health accommodations in August, 600 of the most at-risk have been granted remote work assignments. The lawsuit names the district, School Board and superintendent as violating the agreement allowing remote teaching until June.
