Bajrang Punia takes a break due to elbow niggle   Thu, Apr 29 2021 05:01:51 PM New Delhi, Apr 29 (IANS): India s star wrestler Bajrang Punia will miss a short training stint in Bulgaria due to a niggle in elbow that cropped up during the recently concluded Asian Wrestling Championships in Almaty. I am feeling better. It is good to take a break and prepare for the main tournament in July, Punia told IANS. The Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) had organised a short camp in Sofia which is also the venue for the World Olympic qualifiers scheduled to be held from May 6 to 9. But Punia expressed his inability to train in Bulgaria as he is recovering from the minor injury sustained in Almaty, said a functionary of the WFI.

Six South Korean wrestlers positive for COVID-19 after Asian Championships Sunday, 25 April 2021 Seven COVID-19 infections have been reported among the South Korean delegation which attended the Asian Wrestling Championships in Almaty earlier this month. Six male wrestlers and a coach have been found to have the virus, Yonhap News Agency reports, citing a Korea Wrestling Federation official. Five of the wresters and the coach have returned to South Korea, while a sixth athlete remained in Kazakhstan, planning to compete at an event in Bulgaria next week. Sofia, Bulgaria s capital, is then due to host the global qualification tournament from May 6 to 9.
