National Resilience Core Group renews commitment to strengthen MSME resilience

JULY 30, 2021, MANILA The national MSME Resilience Core Group (RCG), co-chaired by the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) and the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI), with the Philippine Disaster Resilience Foundation (PDRF) and other partners, reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening the disaster resilience of micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) during an online event last July 29.
More than 250 participants from the MSME sector, government and local representatives, academe, and the general public attended the 2021 MSME Resilience E-Forum with the theme “Trabahong Sigurado, Negosyong Matatag, Kabuhayang Nagpapatuloy.”
Union Assurance partnered with Cinnamon Hotels & Resorts to distribute over 3,000 meals to people impacted by the inclement weather as part of Cinnamon’s ‘Meals that Heal’ community project. Amidst the ongoing fight against the pandemic, extreme weather events have impacted over 200,000 individuals across 10 districts in the country. The distribution of meals to displaced communities was conducted in collaboration.

COLOMBO (News1st): The Asia Pacific Alliance for Disaster Management (APAD) has begun rebuilding homes for those who lost their houses in a fire in Grandpass last month.
The project is being carried out in collaboration with the state-run Disaster Management Center, the armed forces and private sector associates.
Police have confirmed that 50 houses were destroyed in a fire that broke out in Kajimawatte in Grandpass, leaving at least 40 families displaced.
APAD, with the invaluable assistance of private sector associates, also joined handed out early recovery items such as kitchen utensils and family clothing among affected families.
