The Advantages Of Miniature Components
We read with great interest your Comment on micro-miniaturisation and solid-state circuitry in Electronics Weekly of March 15. Part of your article referred to “conventional miniature construction”，and it is on this aspect, in relation to miniature components, that we wish to reply.
So, 60 years ago, started a letter to the Editor of Electronics Weekly in its edition of March 29th 1961.
The letter continues:
Contrary to your statement ‘present standards of conventional miniature construction have resulted in portable equipment as small as can be handled conveniently and the size of non-portable equipment generally has been reduced to satisfactory pro-portions’, we feel that very much more remains to be done in this field, both in the design of conventional miniature components and in their application.
