SANDCUT, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) A fire near the Sandcut area results in the total loss of a garage.
Earlier this afternoon, firefighters were dispatched to the East Rio Grande Avenue area.
Upon arrivals, officials say two vehicles were inside of a fully engulfed garage. Both automobiles were severely damaged.
“Our firefighters arrived on scene and made a pretty good stop on it to prevent it getting to this house. As you see the damage on the house is from heat, radiant heat Firefighters arrived on scene with enough time to stop that fire from spreading.” Otter Creek Fire Department P.I.O., Taylor Hardy, said.

VIGO COUNTY, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) – The Otter Creek Fire Department promoted six firefighters at their monthly department meeting. The newly-promoted officer have undergone various leadership and training classes since the beginning of the year. Some of the classes are Instructor 1, Fire Officer Strategy and Tactics (FOST), Fire Officer 1 and other leadership courses.

The officers were chosen and promoted at the recommendation of the command staff and appointed by the Fire Chief. Chief Brad Stott said “we appreciate the effort and dedication that each of the new officers has put in the past few years. They have all come a long way and much to offer the department,” said Stott.

VIGO COUNTY, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) A minor female was injured Tuesday afternoon after crashing an ATV into a tree, according to the Otter Creek Fire Department.
Emergency responders were dispatched around 1 p.m. to 800 E. Haythorne Ave. after receiving a call that a female had crashed into a tree and was complaining of severe leg pain. She was carried out of the woods by a rescue basket before being transported to a local hospital where she is listed in fair condition.
The Otter Creek Fire Department noted she was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

VIGO COUNTY, Ind. (WTHI) - One person was hurt following an ATV crash in Vigo County.
It happened around 1:00 on Tuesday afternoon at 900 E Haythorne Avenue, near the Remnant Church.
The Otter Creek Fire Department said the driver of the ATV was an underage female. She reportedly crashed the ATV into a tree and had severe leg pain.
The girl was taken to the hospital in fair condition.
Officials said she was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
