WEST OLIVE Ottawa County is advancing through the initial steps of its goal to increase broadband access to every county resident, school and business.
On Tuesday, April 27, the county board of commissioners unanimously voted to award a $42,000 contract to Ann Arbor-based technology company Merit Network Inc. to analyze the internet needs of those living and working in Ottawa County.
A broadband analysis plan is the first step in Ottawa County s Digital Inclusion Strategy a four-step initiative to expand high-speed internet access. Merit Network will be tasked with reaching out to county residents to understand their internet needs and where there are shortcomings.
