OTTAWA Schools in Ottawa reopen for in-person learning on Monday, new COVID-19 testing requirements for international travellers and a new proposal to expand the Chateau Laurier. CTVNewsOttawa.ca looks at five stories to watch this week. All schools in Ottawa and eastern Ontario will reopen this week for in-person learning. It s the first time students will be in the classroom for in-person classes since the start of the Christmas Break in December. New safety protocols in schools to limit the spread of COVID-19 include mandatory masks for all students in Grades 1-3 in classes and on buses. Kindergarten students are strongly encouraged to wear a mask.
Free menstrual products coming to OCDSB schools
The Ottawa-Carleton District School Board (OCDSB) is set to become the first board in the city to offer free menstrual products in school washrooms. Trustees have approved a plan to make tampons and sanitary pads available by September 2022.

The Ottawa-Carleton District School Board (OCDSB) is set to become the first board in the city to offer free menstrual products in school washrooms.

There were no people in the building.
Firefighters arrived at 3:56 p.m. and entered the building to control the flames, using tanker vehicles to shuttle water from a nearby fill site and pumping it up a long laneway to the building. However, the fire spread to the attic. Firefighters evacuated the building at 4:40 p.m. after the roof started to collapse. There were no injuries.
As of 6:30 p.m, firefighters were still working to douse the blaze from outside the building.
