Police hit the brakes on stunt drivers on Airport Parkway, Bronson Avenue

  OTTAWA A G2 driver will spend the weekend without their vehicle after being stopped speeding 54 kilometres an hour over the speed limit on the Airport Parkway. Ottawa Police say an officer spotted the driver going 124 kilometres an hour on the Airport Parkway on Friday. The speed limit on the road is 70 km/h. The driver is facing a charge of stunt driving, which includes a seven-day licence suspension and the vehicle impounded for a week. Just south of the Airport Parkway, a motorist was stopped for speeding double the speed limit on Bronson Avenue. The Ottawa Police Service Traffic Unit tweeted a motorist was observed going 123 km/h in a 60 km/h zone.

Members of the Ottawa Police Service Traffic Unit were out on Milton Road, between Navan and Russell roads, Friday morning. Police say seven drivers were stopped going 40 km/h and more over the speed limit. It’s been a busy week for officers with the Ottawa Police Traffic Unit. On Wednesday, a motorist was stopped going 157 km/h in an 80 km/h zone on Limebank Road. “Another day and another G2 driver learned that Ottawa streets are not raceways,” said police on Twitter.
