BUSINESSES are becoming increasingly confident about hiring new staff as Covid restrictions ease, with 181,000 new job adverts posted online across the UK in the first week in May.
The Recruitment & Employment Confederation (REC)’s latest Jobs Recovery Tracker shows that there are currently 1.53 million active job adverts across the UK, with continued growth for roles in hospitality and other service industries.
And Belfast is one of the UK s three hiring hotspots, with 10,788 unique active job postings over the week from May 3-9.

Employers groups and trade unions have expressed concern at the lack of an Employment Bill in the Queen s Speech.
Prime Minister Boris Johnson had previously promised such a bill amid fears that workers rights could be watered down after the UK left the EU.
But Downing Street blamed the coronavirus pandemic for the delay.
The TUC said the government had rowed back on its pledge, while the Recruitment & Employment Confederation (REC) said the bill was long overdue .
REC chief executive Neil Carberry said he was surprised by the lack of a specific Employment Bill in the government s legislative programme .

MORE than 140,000 new job adverts were posted across the UK last week, the highest since the onset of the pandemic, meaning there are currently 1.37 million active vacancies and suggesting an influx of people getting back into work.
But Northern Ireland, which is still in a stricter lockdown than other regions, isn t seeing the same job market impetus according to research from the Recruitment & Employment Confederation (REC)
The three best weeks for new postings since the start of the pandemic have come since March 8, suggesting increase in hiring as restrictions begin to ease, REC said.
